Barefoot Architecture was born of a desire to deliver better homes for living with a minimal footprint on the environment. A deep growing concern at the housing stock, of both old and new builds, led Nick Gaites to take a deep interest in emerging PassiveHaus technology that was being developed in Europe and America. His considering how these learnings could be applied in New Zealand led to him establishing Barefoot Architecture. Barefoot exists to to have better designed homes that provide a better living environment for kiwis, while having a reduced impact upon their environments.
